At that very moment, Vega was already walking out of the police station, heading back to her place in Taco Town. Looking around the empty house, a sense of lonely sorrow washed over her. She muttered to herself, "Aunty, I'm sorry. I just can't stand being locked up again."
After packing her things, she decided to leave the next day for a place where no one could find her. In the morning, a ray of sunlight shone through the window, waking Vega. The moment she opened her eyes, she jumped in shock. A man was standing right in front of her. "De Silva, how long have you been here?"
"I've been waiting for you all day. You're not getting away this time."
"All day? I didn't see you last night." De Silva had turned invisible the moment Vega walked in, then hidden under her bed, watching as she packed, showered, and changed. Now that she was asking, he didn't dare admit it. "I mean, I was waiting for you outside all day," he explained hastily.
"Get out! I need to get up and get dressed," Vega yelled.
Feeling a pang of guilt, De Silva immediately walked out. Vega had sent him away so she could figure out how to escape. A moment later, she had a plan. Leaning against the doorway, she beckoned to De Silva. "Come over here. I have something to show you."
"What is it?" De Silva grew wary, but after a moment's hesitation, he walked back into the room. As he glanced around, Vega suddenly shoved him to the ground, ran out the door, and locked it from the outside. Then, she grabbed her backpack and rushed downstairs. It all happened so fast that De Silva didn't even have time to react. By the time he got downstairs to look for her, ten minutes had passed.
After a two-day journey, Alice and the others finally arrived at the island. "We should give this island a name," Ares suggested. "Then you think of one," Daechir replied.
"How about Celestial Island?" Daechir thought for a moment, then nodded in agreement. "We live in the Hanging Garden, and the island is called Celestial Island. That sounds pretty good." The group got on the elevator and walked across the chain-link passageway. Number Three had been waiting at home for days, staring holes through the door. Seeing the large group return, he hurried over. Uwa, who had fought him before, saw him and asked, "What are you doing here?" Alice explained, "He's Daechir's robot." During the days he was waiting, Number Three had built several more wooden cabins, so everyone had their own room. The Hanging Garden was suddenly bustling with life, and everyone got along well.
Two years passed in the blink of an eye. After escaping from Taku Town, Vega had made her way to South America, to Mexico, which was once her home. She survived on two Luminary Coins. A year ago, she had met a man and married him. Now, she was heavily pregnant, with the baby due in a month. Her husband, a truck driver, had been out for three days and hadn't returned, and she was sitting at home, worried. Just then, the door was slammed open with a "bang," and a girl darted into the house. Vega couldn't help but exclaim, "Daechir, is that you?"
"Vega, I finally found you. Come with me, now."
"How did you find me?"
"You don't need to know that."
"Can you let me see my husband before I go with you?" Vega pleaded. "That's impossible. Let's go now. Don't make me do something unpleasant." Vega touched her belly, then asked, "Where is my aunty? Where is she?" Daechir's brow furrowed. Without answering, she suddenly struck Vega, knocking her unconscious, then picked her up and carried her out of the house.
When Vega woke up, she was on Celestial Island. Alice was thrilled to see her, and even happier when she found out Vega was pregnant. Uwa had left a year ago to deal with the conflict between the city-states and the Nine Stars Federation. As soon as Daechir brought Vega back, she dismantled the chain-link passageway, leaving the Hanging Garden with no way in or out. After a few days, Ares started to complain. "Are you treating us like prisoners?"
"We have everything here. What do you need to go out for?" Daechir retorted.
"I need to go down and get some sun! Aren't you afraid I'll start to stink?"
"Can't you just wash yourself? You're disgusting."
"If I'd known it would be like this, I'd rather have stayed in the city-state," Ares grumbled.
Daechir compromised. "Fine. We'll go down once a week, but we can only stay on the island. We can't leave it."
"That's not enough! Three days a week is more..." Before Ares could finish, a loud "BOOM" echoed from below. A rock on the island had been blown to pieces, and a large group of police, more than three hundred of them, began to land on the island. "How did they find this place?" Daechir asked in shock.
"I can't figure it out either. Could there be a traitor among us?"
"Vega?" That was the first person Daechir suspected. This place had been exposed just a few days after her arrival. There was no such thing as a coincidence. Alice and the others ran out of their cabins, their faces filled with terror. "What's happening?"
Daechir comforted them, "Don't be afraid. It's not that easy for them to find us up here." Unfortunately, she spoke too soon. The people below were walking directly toward the parrot-shaped rock. Furious, Daechir pulled out a box, ready to release her mechanical spiders. Seeing this, Alice quickly stopped her. "Don't kill anyone! We can cut the four steel cables and leave."
"Why should we run? We'll fight them!" Vega interjected.
"Alright!" Daechir threw the box. A moment later, screams erupted from below. Just as everyone thought victory was near, the sounds from the enemy stopped. Daechir was secretly alarmed; she knew her spiders had been destroyed. This was the first time that had ever happened. Just as she was about to throw out a few more, Vega suddenly pulled a gun from her coat, aimed it at Daechir's head, and fired three times. "Bang! Bang! Bang!"
There was no blood, only a spray of red liquid. Daechir's head was blown open, leaving a fist-sized hole. She reached forward, grasping at nothing. It happened so suddenly that no one had time to react before she collapsed. Alice stared at Vega as if she'd seen a ghost. "What are you doing?" she gasped.
With a calm gaze, Vega said slowly, "She killed my husband. I'm getting my revenge."
Seeing the woman he loved killed, Beyondbear let out a roar and lunged forward. But before he could get close, Vega raised her gun and shot him in the leg. He staggered and fell to his knees, shouting defiantly, "You fat woman! I'm going to kill you!" Number Two grabbed Ares and headed for a cabin, wanting no part in the conflict. Hill followed them. Just as Number Three was about to step forward and speak, Alice stopped him. "What are you doing?"
"Don't be afraid, Aunty. If he dares to take another step, I'll kill him, too," Vega said. Just then, Ares poked his head out of the cabin. "Number Three, be careful! She borrowed my gun! It's specifically designed for robots."
Vega sneered. "A pity you warned him too late."
With a hissing sound, Number Three struggled for a moment before collapsing to the ground.
