Uwa steeled herself and followed. "What are you following us for?" Vega turned and asked, increasingly suspicious of the woman. Uwa herself didn't know why she was following them; she just felt that Alice and Vega seemed kind, a feeling she had only ever experienced with Amandine.
"Please believe me, I won't hurt you," Uwa explained weakly. But Alice, through Vega's translation, actually believed her. Number Three was already catching up from behind. Uwa said to the two, "You go on ahead, I'll hold him off." With that, she pulled out her gun. Bang, bang, bang—three shots hit Number Three's leg. Strangely, he didn't fall, merely stumbled back a few steps. "Who are you? Why are you using force against me?"
Uwa was astounded; she hadn't expected anyone to be impervious to bullets. She then fired at Number Three's chest, with the same result. "Are you wearing a bulletproof vest?" she asked.
"I am a robot. These bullets are useless against me," Number Three replied.
"I don't believe you." Uwa shot him in the head. Perhaps because it was too close, Number Three finally fell this time. Overjoyed, she turned and ran. She quickly caught up with Alice and Vega. "What about that man?" Vega asked.
"He's dead."
"Ah!" Vega stopped. "That's impossible. He's a robot, how could he die so easily?"
"Is he really a robot? I thought he was lying to me."
"What's wrong?" Alice also stopped and asked.
Vega explained. "Quick, let's go! He'll probably be after us again soon," Alice urged.
No sooner had she spoken than Number Three's voice carried over, "Wait for me! Daechir will be really angry."
Hearing his shout, the three of them ran even faster. Just as they were about to be caught, Vega saw a crowd ahead. She ran over and said frantically, "Everyone, please help me! There's a man behind us trying to harass my sister!" As she spoke, she pointed to Alice and then to the approaching Number Three. Seeing such a beautiful girl being bullied, the crowd was enraged. They swarmed Number Three, pummelling him with fists and feet. The three of them ran for a good four kilometers without stopping, only pausing when they were sure no one was following. Alice laughed. "Vega, you're getting more and more mischievous."
"I learned it from Amandine. He loves playing pranks."
Although Uwa couldn't understand their conversation, she recognized the name "Amandine." She asked Vega, "Did you just mention Amandine's name?"
"Yes, he's my younger brother."
"I also knew someone named Amandine. Unfortunately, he's dead."
The two women had heard from Daechir that Amandine had come to this era. Vega asked in surprise, "How did he die?"
"He was executed by people from the Illuminati."
"The Illuminati?" She hadn't heard of this organization. "Did he have two sons, one named De Silva?"
This time it was Uwa's turn to be surprised. "Yes, how did you know?"
When Vega relayed their conversation to Alice, tears welled up in Alice's eyes. "Is he really dead?" The bond between the three of them deepened instantly, and they began to converse in a language all three understood. When Alice heard that Ronnie had also passed away in the future, she was so grief-stricken she couldn't eat for three days. Uwa took a "time phone" from her pocket and said to her, "Don't be too sad. I have this. We can call the future."
In the future, Catherine heard Alice's voice and thought she was dreaming. "Auntie, is that really you?" Alice still couldn't believe it and asked again, "Is Ronnie really dead?"
"It's true. He passed away a long time ago."
"How did he die?"
"He went to see Professor De Silva, and he died not long after returning." After a moment, the voice on the other end added, "By the way, Professor De Silva is Amandine's son. He should have already been born in your time."
"Ah! Then how is he in the future world?" Alice couldn't figure it out.
"Auntie, have you forgotten the 'Telomere Rejuvenation Liquid'? He lived for over three hundred years, all the way to our era."
"It seems I must go and see him."
"I suspect Dad's death is also related to him."
"Catherine, why would you say that? Ronnie was his grandfather."
"We investigated. Dad died from a slow-acting poison, and during that time, he had only met with De Silva."
"Alright, then you investigate further. If he really did it, he should be punished," Alice said.
"I'm sorry, Auntie, we can't find him. He has left the city-state." Alice was silent for a moment, then asked, "Who else is with you?"
"Enos and Dan are here with me."
"Then put Enos on the phone." After waiting for more than three minutes, she heard an excited voice from the other end, "Alice, you're really alive again? Father finally fulfilled his wish!"
Once the other person had calmed down, Alice spoke, "Enos, I need you to do something for me."
"What is it? Tell me."
"I want you to find out Professor De Silva's whereabouts."
"Well..." She had wanted to continue investigating, but Catherine had stopped her. Catherine was afraid of knowing the truth; even if De Silva had killed Ronnie, she couldn't possibly take revenge. "What? You're unwilling?" Alice asked, a little angrily.
Enos glanced at Catherine, pondered for a long while, then said, "Alright, I'll investigate." The call ended. Uwa, who had been listening nearby, hadn't understood most of it, but she kept hearing the name "De Silva." She asked, "Are you looking for De Silva? I know where he is."
Alice asked, pleasantly surprised, "Where is he?"
"He's in Zi City."
"You mean he joined the city-state?"
"Yes, I saw him not long ago." Alice looked at Uwa with an expectant gaze and asked, "Can you take me to him?"
"Of course." After saying this, she kissed Alice on the cheek.
Alice immediately sensed trouble. Another woman had fallen for her before, and the thought made her want to turn and flee. Vega also found it strange but could only rationalize it to herself, thinking, "Perhaps it's a local custom."
Uwa had no other intentions; she simply found Alice so adorable that she couldn't resist kissing her. Unable to find Alice, Daechir was furious, flying into a rage and had already killed several people. Ronnie would never have imagined that his own robot, unable to complete its mission, would turn into a brutal killer. At that moment, she was gripping someone by the throat, demanding harshly, "Speak! Where did they go?"
"I've told you everything I know. I really don't know anything else," the person stammered.
"Then you have no reason to exist anymore." A scream—"Ah...!"—tore from the person's mouth, then was abruptly cut short.
This was the eighth person Daechir had killed. She was now a wanted fugitive by the police.
